Alzheimer’s Society is developing certification schemes for businesses and products to be recognised as ‘dementia friendly’. These schemes offer considerable benefits for all involved. For people affected by Dementia, they will know the customer experience they can expect, enabling them to feel supported and understood in their community. About the role
Alzheimer’s Society is seeking certification expertise to help design and implement a certification scheme for both businesses and products. The role will be working closely across a number of internal directorates including fundraising, training and consultancy, and community engagement, as well as externally with people living with dementia and different corporate partners.
The role will fall into 3 main areas
Phase 1 – Feasibility Study / Business Case: confirm objectives and scope of the development phase; research stakeholder requirements and key success factors; produce a high level design for the scheme; produce a business case including indicative P&L; identify stakeholders for participation in development phase.
Phase 2 – Scheme Development: production of scheme standards and protocols and related documentation, identify optimum design of standards to reconcile the need for minimum standards whilst encouraging continuous improvement; understand the opportunities for data collection; determine the development and roll-out strategy reference need to grow in a manageable and cost- effective way and meet marketing objectives. Develop service specification for selection and appointment of service partners.
Phase 3 – Scheme Implementation and Operation: identification and appointment of a suitable Service Partner; appointment of Service Partner; development of detailed roll-out plan; scheme launch and promotion; ongoing delivery.
You will have experience of
- Consulting with multiple stakeholders
- Designing & implementing internal and/ or external certification schemes for businesses and/ or charities
- Advising organisations on the different certification methodologies and associated operating costs
- Producing scheme standards, protocols and auditing criteria
- Designing commercial pricing models
- Auditing organisations
- Managing third party certification companies
- BSI, ISO 9001Lead Auditor

Hours: Part time, but will vary across different weeks
Office Location: Remote, London when required, possible travel across the UK
