Housing 21

Organisation Summary

Housing 21 is a not-for-profit, leading national provider of Retirement Housing and Extra Care for older people of modest means. We support independence and choice for older people through quality housing, care and support. We manage over 20,000 properties across England, working across 190 local authorities and providing around 43,000 hours of care each week. We embed our work on dementia throughout the organisation. All staff are Dementia Friends and we have a target for half of all residents to become Dementia Friends by 2021.

What sectors does your organisation work in?

Why is your organisation committed to the NDAA and the Dementia Statements?

We estimate that approximately 24% of our residents living in retirement or extra care housing have a dementia diagnosis or suspected cognitive impairment. It is important to us that we are providing the housing care and support which people living with dementia and other cognitive and physical impairment need and want. Although we consult widely with our residents, the dementia statements provide us with a useful reference point from people living with dementia.
